Mother of Many wins at BAFTA 2010

Mother of Many won it's BAFTA so a big well done to Emma Lazenby. Watch a little clip below, and also watch this bit on iPlayer and listen to hear the wonderful Candi from Arthur Cox screaming her head off when it was announced it had won.

Format Court interview in Lille

If you want to practice your French you can read an interview with me from when I went to Lille last October on the Format Court e-magazine website. Apparently Jeune diplômé de la Film School of Wales, Felix Massie est un animateur réservé, à l’origine de deux films pittoresques et morbides, « Keith Reynolds Can’t Make It Tonight » et « The Surprise Demise of Francis Cooper’s Mother ». Invitée au dernier Festival de Lille, cette nouvelle recrue de la boite de production The World of Arthur Cox se balade allègrement, de séance en séance, vêtu d’un t-shirt représentant un gros monstre vert fluo. Rapprochement de mise.

Never gonna be a star. ok.

January's gone and there's still no new webseries up. Whoops. One episode is 100% done, one episode just needs some extra sound effects, and one episode needs editing and sound effects. Don't know when I'm going to finish them but when I do, and I finish the little website for them, up they will go.

Instead of doing that I've been watching Glee and doing some design work at Arthur Cox and Aardman for an exciting project - I never know if I'm supposed to blog about things like that (both Glee and the design stuff) so I'll keep schtum for a bit. To keep up my drawing for fun resolution I also did this hideous picture for Joe Paine of ok as a sort of fan-art for their song Star:


And that's all I think.

Mother of Many for BAFTA 2010

Exciting news of the year so far is that Emma Lazenby's baby, Mother of Many, (produced here at Arthur Cox by Sally Arthur) has been nominated for a 2010 BAFTA in the best animated short category. What's she going to wear?

Happy New Year

It's been a slow start to 2010 but I've been trying to keep busy by doing the following things:

• drawing
• creating the mysterious new webseries
• sorting out a proposal for a new short film idea
• doing some compositing on odd days at work
  

It's all glitz and glamour, I'm sure you'll agree.

I will put some of the drawings up soon but here is something more worth seeing: the icci medley by David Kuo. An animation based on my old i can't colour in animations. Click the pic to play.

Been balanced there for two years

I've been balanced there for two years now. Happy Birthday. Have a new banner for the occasion and everything.

For the last couple of weeks I've been working on a little video about music which I'm hoping will eventually be shortlisted for some sort of inspirational video of the year award if such a thing exists. Will post it up when I can.

Haven't worked on my webseries for a while now because of the above, but over the Christmas break I plan to get something done inbetween eating pies and watching Love Actually. Still hoping for a January release.

Duddle

Here's an ident I animated on for Sarah Cox for the television channel five.



Was made up of found doodles from around the studio and people's houses which we then animated on paper with pens and pencils and composited in After Effects. I've never actually seen it on television but I do like it a lot.

Rain, rain go away - come again another day

Been slowly working away on some scripts for my new webseries. First episode comes out in January so please subscribe to my YouTube channel to make sure you see it! Spent all of yesterday fixing my steam powered computer but apart from that the animation and a nice little website are coming along nicely.

When it stops raining for five minutes I've also been going outside this building and then back inside other buildings before it starts raining again to pitch ideas to try and get to make a TV series. I hope I get to make one because then I could think "it's raining - but at least I'm making my own TV series". Right now a webseries will do though - subscribe!

End of Encounters 2009

Encounters 2009 finished yesterday and Francis Cooper was a runner up for the SW Audience Award. Super. The winner of the audience, and the jury award, was Light and Dark by Tom Stubbs and Michael Smith. If there was an award for best acceptance speech they probably would have won that too!
