Annecy 2009 day 2, 3 and 4

Managed to see Shorts 2 and 3. More delights being Rains/L'ondée by David Coquard-Dassault, Slaves/Slavar by Hanna Heilborn and David Aronowitsch, and The Spine by Chris Landreth.

I hope some of these I've been mentioning win things.

Day four of Annecy consisted of getting a taxi to Geneva and flying to a mysterious location to do exciting things. Am now back in Bristol. A short lived Annecy this year. Nevermind.

Annecy 2009 day 1

Francis Cooper made his French premier last night. He didn't have subtitles and he can't speak French so I'm not sure how well people understood him but at least the cat went down well.

I saw Shorts Programme 1 too. Think my favourite was Krokodill by Kaspar Jancis.

Annecy 2009 day -1

I finished working at Aardman yesterday. Hopefully I will be able to find a link to the advert once it is online somewhere. It's a nice one.

Tomorrow I leave for Annecy. This will be the first time I've been to an animation festival with my very own business cards. The forecast is rain. Perhaps I should have got them laminated.

Aardcore

Am working at Aardman for a couple of weeks at the moment. Animating on a commercial for Tim Ruffle. It is in the new eco building which is great. All except for in one of the toilets on the second floor they have put the flush handle too close to the seat so that when you flush with the seat up the seat falls down.

The surprise demise of Francis Cooper's mother has been accepted into the 17th International Animation Festival of Brazil, ANIMA MUNDI 2009.

Just for two laughs

Both Keith Reynolds and Francis Cooper will be crossing the Atlantic again in July for the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal. I think Bill Cosby will be there too.

I've spent most of this week working on the script for my new film. So far it's going ok. Not quite as exciting as Bill Cosby but still worth mentioning I thought.

People still bring that up, even today.

I was wrong, Francis Cooper is in McLaren Animation 1 (not 2) at Edinburgh International Film Festival. 20th June, 18:20 at Filmhouse 2.

Today I booked my tickets for the Annecy screenings. Including one for Francis in le Bonlieu - Petite salle pour 2009 Courts métrages hors compétition! Lundi. Bon. Qu'est-il environ? Francis Cooper et sa mère, Emily Maddison et le visage de cet homme, Craig MacKay et son chat.

Edinburgh International Film Festival 2009

The surprise demise of Francis Cooper's mother is in the official selection of the Edinburgh International Film Festival 2009 (or EIFF). I think it's in one of the McLaren screenings. Maybe the second one because it sounds like This Way Up is in that screening and my films quite often get shown along with that because people die in them. But that's just a guess.

Tom Jones - Give a Little Love

Came across a music video I worked on for three days back in February: Tom Jones (before he stopped dying his hair) - Give a Little Love. I don't know much about it other than that.

From now on, whenever the subject of Tom Jones comes up, I can say "Funny story actually!: I animated the fire hydrant, the people walking down the red carpet and some stuff on the members of the band in his Give A Little Love video" to which they'll respond, "Really?! That's so fascinating - you're a fascinating person, Felix".

Hopefully at a dinner party.

40 seconds. A joke. Links.

Today I finished the short proposal I wanted to get done before Sarah went away to Tribeca in New York so that she can show some people there. It's a series for late teens and young adults. I managed to get together an outline of what it was, a sample of some script, some character bios, and a little animation example to show how it would all potentially look.

Then I had a little discussion with Sarah about where to take it (not actually take it, but you know) next and so the plan is too...

1. Write more script.
2. Introduce new characters.
3. Develop the treatment a little more.

This is all in time to take it to Annecy where I will try and meet some people at MIFA and maybe also to take to Edinburgh.
